Franzpeter Goebels

Franzpeter Goebels (born March 5, 1920 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , † September 28, 1988 in Detmold ) was a German pianist , harpsichordist and university teacher .

Franzpeter Goebels was the son of an organist active in the parish and a student of Karl Hermann Pillney and Raoul von Koczalski . In addition to piano lessons, he studied musicology , Romance languages and philosophy . Before he was called up for military service in 1942 , he was the solo pianist with the German broadcaster from 1940 .

From 1947 Goebels taught piano at the Robert Schumann Conservatory in Düsseldorf , where he was also director of the New Music Studio . In 1958 he was appointed professor for piano and harpsichord at the Northwest German Music Academy in Detmold . There he taught until his retirement in 1982 and until 1972 headed the seminar for music education and the studio for new music.

Goebels received the Ruhr Prize for Art and Science in 1964 . In addition to his pianistic and educational work, he has also appeared as an author, arranger and editor of musical works.

Franzpeter Goebels had been married since 1951 and had two children, including the pianist Friedwart Goebels , who teaches at the Faculty of Music Therapy at the private SRH University in Heidelberg .
