Fred Peart, Baron Peart

Thomas Frederick Peart, Baron Peart PC (* the thirtieth April 1914 in Durham , England ; † 26. August 1988 ) was a British politician of the Labor Party .

biography

After attending school, Peart studied at the University of Durham , graduating in 1936 and then teaching . During the Second World War he served in the British Army and was last promoted to captain .

After the war, he began his political career when he was a candidate of the Labor Party in the general election on 5 July 1945 for the first time as a deputy in the lower house ( House of Commons ) has been selected and there the to 1976 constituency Workington represented.
