Freddie Jackson
Freddie Jackson (* 2. October 1956 as Frederick Anthony Jackson in Harlem , New York ) is an American soul singer, who became famous in the 1980s in guests with soulful ballads.
biography
Jackson gained his first musical experience like many African American singers in church. In the early 1980s he started his professional career in the less successful funk band Mystic Merlin . He took over the lead vocal on their third album Full Moon (1982).
Afterwards Jackson worked as a background singer for artists such as Evelyn "Champagne" King , Kenny G and Melba Moore . From 1985 Jackson had over 30 hits in the American R&B charts, ten of which reached number one. In the standard work Top R&B Singles 1942-1995 , he is listed at number 11 of the most successful artists of the 1980s. Some of these hits also made the pop hit lists, including top 40 hits Rock Me Tonight (For Old Times Sake) , You Are My Lady , He'll Never Love You (Like I Do), and Jam Tonight . His duets A Little Bit More (1986) and I Can't Complain (1988) with Melba Moore were also very successful .
Jackson's first two albums, Rock Me Tonight (1985) and Just Like the First Time (1986), went platinum in the US for one million records sold. His hit series continued until 1992, after which he only got medium to smaller hits.
Jackson's last album to date was released in June 2018: Love Signals was his first studio album in eight years.
