Frederic Soler
Frederic Soler i Hubert (born October 9, 1839 in Barcelona ; † July 4, 1895 ) was a Catalan poet and playwright who wrote under the pseudonym Serafí Pitarra . Frederic Soler i Hubert also worked as a watchmaker .
Life
The son of a carpenter was at the age of three years and a half-orphan at the age of nine orphan . He was then raised by his uncle, Carles Hubert, who lived as a freelance watchmaker in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona .
Frederic Soler took over watchmaking after the death of his uncle. But his great love was the theater, and at fifteen he made his debut in an amateur theater .
His Gatada (parody) L'esquella de la torratxa (1864) and some other of his works are known to this day.
In addition to his work as a playwright, Frederic Soler was also known as a poet and won the Jocs Florals (flower games) in 1875 . He published several volumes of poetry such as B. Nits de lluna (1886). With his work Judas de Keriot: poema dramátich , published in Barcelona in 1889 , he came into conflict with the official Roman Catholic Church. The work was placed on the index by decree of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith in 1890 .
Frederic Soler died of a heart attack on July 4, 1895 and was buried in Barcelona.

Honors
The most famous monument to Frederic Soler was erected on the Rambla in Barcelona . It was designed by Pere Falqués i Urpí and executed by the sculptor Agustí Querol (1906).
Several streets in Catalonia (Spain) were named in honor of Frederic Soler (or Serafí Pitarra), including streets in Cerdanyola del Vallès , Porqueres , El Vendrell and Salou .
