Fredrik Claes Larsson (born April 14, 1984 in Skövde ; † April 28, 2020 in Lerum ) was a Swedish handball player . He was 1.93 m tall.
Larsson, who played for the Swedish national team, was used on the center back .
Larsson started playing handball at HK Country IF in his hometown. He later came to the larger club IFK Skövde HK , where he made his debut in the Swedish first division in 2002 and won the EHF Challenge Cup in 2004. In 2004 he moved to Ystads IF HF before moving on to Hammarby IF in 2005 . With the Stockholm suburban club, he won the Swedish championship in 2006 and 2007. In early 2008, Larsson signed a three-year contract with the German champions THW Kiel , which was valid from the 2009/10 season , but was dissolved in May 2009. Instead, he moved to the Spanish first division club BM Aragón in the summer of 2009 . When his contract with Aragón expired after two years, he signed a contract with IK Sävehof . With Sävehof he won the Swedish championship in 2012. On December 11, 2012 he was signed by the traditional German club VfL Gummersbach , which he left after the 2013/14 season. He then signed a contract with the Swedish first division club Alingsås HK . He ended his career in 2016.
Fredrik Larsson played 36 caps for the Swedish national team . At the European handball championship in Norway in 2008 , he was only part of the extended squad of his country.
Larsson died on April 28, 2020 when he was hit by a truck while cycling in Lerum.
