Fredrik Rudberg

Fredrik Rudberg (born August 30, 1800 in Norrköping , † June 14, 1839 in Uppsala ) was a Swedish physicist.

Life

Rudberg studied at Uppsala University from 1815 and became a master's degree and lecturer in mathematics at the age of 21. His first scientific article appeared in 1819 and dealt with the mathematical theory of capillary phenomena . After receiving his doctorate, he worked exclusively in the field of physics. During a stay abroad of several years in various European countries, he met François Arago , Jean-Baptiste Biot and Augustin Jean Fresnel in Paris . After returning to Uppsala, he became a professor there in 1828. He researched metals and alloys and did pioneering work specifically on their melting and phase diagrams . Several of his publications appeared in Poggendorff's Annals of Physics and Physical Chemistry .

In 1838 he was elected a corresponding member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
