Mahonia fremontii ( Mahonia fremontii ) is a plant from the family of Barberry (Berberidaceae). It occurs in the American states of California , Nevada , Utah , Colorado and Mexico .

description

Fremont's Oregon Grape is an upright, spreading shrub to 3.5 meters high ; the leaves are up to 10 centimeters long and composed of 3 to 7, wavy, spiked, pointed, oblong-lanceolate, waxy, frosted, yellow to gray-green pinnate leaflets. The yellow flowers appear towards the end of winter and sit tightly in bunches up to 5 centimeters long. Egg-shaped, dark-blue and white-frosted berries ripen in autumn.
