Friedrich Brutzer (born September 25, 1879 in Riga ; † June 12, 1958 at Gut Schönberg near Westerhofen ) was a German naval officer , most recently vice admiral .

Life

Friedrich Brutzer was a son of the Riga psychiatrist and founder of the Rothenberg sanatorium near Riga Gregor Brutzer (1834-1883). Heinrich Wilhelm Brutzer was his uncle. In 1891 the widow Wilhelmine Brutzer, nee. von Kieter, with the children to Lübeck. Immediately after graduating from high school at the Katharineum in Lübeck, Brutzer joined the Imperial Navy at Easter 1898 and was an Admiral Staff Officer on the staff of Admiral Franz von Hipper during the First World War .

After the end of the war he was accepted into the Imperial Navy as a corvette captain . From April to September 1925 he commanded the liner Hannover , meanwhile promoted to captain at sea . With the promotion to Rear Admiral on January 1, 1928, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Naval Station of the Baltic Sea . Shortly afterwards, in May 1928, he became chief of the naval command office of the naval command in the Reichswehr Ministry in Berlin . In this function, Brutzer was promoted to Vice Admiral on October 1, 1928. On September 28, 1930, he was ceremoniously adopted into retirement.

His son Gerfried Brutzer was also a naval officer and during World War II a . a. Commander of the destroyer Z 38 .
