Friedrich Christian von Ketteler zu Harkotten

Friedrich Christian von Ketteler zu Harkotten (* March 6, 1691 ; † November 25, 1748 in Münster ) was a privy councilor and cathedral cantor in the prince-bishopric of Münster.

Life

Origin and family

Friedrich Christian von Ketteler zu Harkotten grew up as the son of Goswin Kaspar von Ketteler zu Harkotten and his wife Anna Dorothea von Korff zu Harkotten (1659–1700) together with his brothers Alexander Anton , Christoph Heinrich  and Goswin Ferdinand Moritz (1699–1784, Provost in Cappenberg) in the ancient Westphalian noble family von Ketteler .

Act

With the receipt of the tonsure on January 22nd, 1703 Friedrich Christian was prepared for a clerical office. After attending the Jesuit grammar school in Münster, he studied in Rome from 1709 to 1713 . With papal approval he received a cathedral priest in Münster in 1712 . He became a deacon and in 1728 had the Obedience of Buldern and in February 1737 the Archdeaconate in Albersloh. He also held the office of cathedral choirmaster . His appointment to the Cathedral Scholaster fell on July 27, 1740. Friedrich Christian ran for election as Vicar General , but was defeated. He is buried in Münster Cathedral, where there is also a grave slab.
