Friedrich Danzel

Johann Friedrich Nicolaus Danzel (born February 2, 1792 in Hamburg ; † November 10, 1847 there ) was a German doctor .

Life

Born in Hamburg as the son of a high school professor and private school director, Danzel attended the learned school of the Johanneum in his hometown from 1806 to 1812 . Johann Gottfried Gurlitt (1754-1827), to whom he dedicated a poem in 1817, was one of his teachers . After his school education, Danzel studied medicine at the University of Göttingen from 1812 and completed his studies with an inaugural dissertation on December 14, 1814 as a doctor of medicine . He then returned to Hamburg and settled there as a doctor. In 1815, Danzel co-founded the Medical Association in Hamburg. His son August Danzel continued his practice after Danzel's death.

Danzel was a son of the professor of the French language in Hamburg Nicolas Alexandre Danzel and his wife Margaretha Elisabeth Brütt. From 1831 to 1857 the rector of the school in Ritzebüttel , Dr. phil. Heinrich Friedrich Danzel (1802–1864) was his brother.

On January 4, 1817 he married Anna Catharina Westphalen (1786–1849), daughter of the businessman Libert Westphalen (1750–1813) and sister of the lawyer Nicolaus Adolf Westphalen (1793–1854). The philosopher Wilhelm Danzel (1818–1850) and the surgeon August Danzel (1822–1889) were his sons.
