Rudy Ruggiero , birth name Ruggero Comploj , (born July 25, 1961 in Innsbruck ) is a German - Italian actor .

Life

Rudy Ruggiero was born in Tyrol to a German father and an Italian . He also has Russian, Spanish and Hungarian ancestors. He grew up trilingual (German, Italian, American English) in Italy, Austria and Germany. He moved to New York City in 1979 at the age of 18 . From 1982 to 1986 he completed a three-year acting course at the renowned Herbert Berghof Studio in New York City. There belonged u. a. William Hickey , Uta Hagen and Herbert Berghof among his teachers. He also attended a guest seminar at Al Pacino there . He also attended Stella Adler's drama school (1989; one year), took acting classes with Eric Morris in Los Angeles and at the Lee Strasberg Institute .

From 1989 to about 2000 he played theater in the United States, mostly at off-Broadway theaters, with the Actors Group in New York City, the Pasadena Playhouse in Los Angeles and the Balcony Theater in Los Angeles. He also did improvisational theater . He also had small roles in television and in film. In between he went to Tel Aviv , where he lived for six years and learned Hebrew . In 2000/2001 he returned to Europe . From then on he commuted between Berlin and Vienna, both professionally and privately .

He made his movie debut in 1988, alongside Lauren Bacall , with a small supporting role in the feature film Rendezvous with a corpse . This was followed by small roles in movies a. a. als Kellner in Liebe has two faces (1996) next to Barbra Streisand , as well as series roles, u. a. in Zeit der Sehnsucht (1998/1999; as Swiss Maitre'D Antonio) and in Practice - The Lawyers (1999). He also played a supporting role as Alessandro Borghese in the German-Austrian-French adventure film The Bible Code (2008). In the German comedy Die Schimmelreiter (2008) he played the Italian Massimo. In the Austrian thriller Katharsis (2011) he played Eric Scanetti, the special investigator in a murder case. In the ZDF television film Love, Babies and a New Beginning (first broadcast: April 2012) he was seen alongside Marion Kracht and Eva Habermann . He played the Italian Giuseppe Pelicano, a father whose baby was born with an umbilical tear. In the ZDF television film Tessa Hennig - Mutti rises off (2013) he was Miguel, the future gay Spanish neighbor of the three middle-aged friends who want to found a shared flat for women on Mallorca .
