from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Wilhelm Diedrich Heinrich Dorn (* 29. April 1861 in Nostorf ; † 25. November 1901 in Hamburg ) was a German landscape and marine painter and graphic artists of the Düsseldorf school .

Life

Dorn was the son of a mechanical engineer. From 1887 he studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy . There Adolf Schill , Carl Ernst Forberg and above all Eugen Dücker were his teachers. Dorn stayed in the latter's landscape class from 1888 to 1895. In terms of style and choice of motifs, however, he followed Olof Jernberg , who was an assistant teacher in this class from 1882 to 1898. His works are characterized by a similarly imperialistic style of painting as the Jernbergs. In the art trade and at art exhibitions, for example in Berlin and Düsseldorf , Dorn appeared through landscape paintings and etchings .
