Friedrich Eduard Beneke
Friedrich Eduard Beneke (born February 17, 1798 in Berlin ; † March 1 (approx.) 1854 there ) was a German philosopher and psychologist .
Beneke took part in the campaign of 1815 as a volunteer hunter and since 1816 has been engaged in philosophical studies in Halle and Berlin, the direction of which the two writings empirical soul theory as the basis of all knowledge (Berlin 1820) and epistemology according to the consciousness of pure reason (Jena 1820) described . Shortly afterwards he qualified as a private lecturer in Berlin; but since he had published a basic paper on the physics of morals in Berlin in 1822 , in which one could sense materialism , he was forbidden to continue his lectures. In order to prevent misinterpretations, he published the “Protective Text for My Foundation for the Physics of Morals” (Leipzig 1823) and moved to Göttingen in 1824 , where he taught as a private lecturer. Here he mainly dealt with psychological issues.
In 1827 he returned to Berlin as an academic teacher, and after Hegel's death in the spring of 1832 he was given an extraordinary professorship in philosophy. On practical philosophy, he published the journal Archive for pragmatic psychology, etc. (1851-1853) from 1851. Missing since March 1, 1854, his body was found on June 3, 1856 in the ship canal near Charlottenburg.
His grave on Dreifaltigkeitskirchhof II was dedicated as an honorary grave in Berlin until 2014 .
