Friedrich Emanuel Marx

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Friedrich Emanuel Marx (born September 27, 1767 in Berlin ; † May 25, 1826 there ) was a German organ builder in Berlin.

Life

Friedrich Emanuel Marx was mentioned as an organ builder by his father Ernst Julius Marx since around 1790 , whose workshop in Berlin he took over after his death in 1799. The construction of a zinc pipe organ with a cast iron case by Karl Friedrich Schinkel in Hohenofen in the Prignitz region was spectacular, but had to be dismantled after protests by organ critic Friedrich Wilke.

Friedrich Emanuel Marx was married to Caroline Louisa Wiebe, the daughter of an innkeeper from Nauen. The son Carl Friedrich Ernst Marx was also an organ builder in Berlin, but there are no known works by him.
