Friedrich Ernst August von Schwichow (born April 23, 1798 in Stettin , † March 10, 1868 in Trakehnen ) was the land stableman .

origin

His parents were Friedrich von Schwichow (1756-1814) and his wife Albertine Dorotheé von Laurens , a daughter of Johann Albrecht von Laurens , Herr auf Faulenbenz, Alt-Damerow and Lentz. His father was the master of Bochowke, Alt-Damerow, Lentz and Notzkow.

Life

In 1792 he came to the Berlin Cadet House , served in various cavalry regiments and retired from military service in 1841. From 1841 he was state stable master of the then Prussian state stud Warendorf and from 1847 of the main stud Trakehnen . In 1853 he married his niece. In 1863 he had a stroke. In the following year he handed over the management of the main stud to Lieutenant Colonel Gustav Adolph von Dassel . In 1868 he founded the North German Derby together with Count Wilamowitz-Moellendorff , so that it was held for the first time in the following year and endowed with 1,400 thalers for the winner.

In 1938 the Vorwerk in Gurdszen was renamed Schwichowshof in his honor .

family

In 1853 he married Klara von Sommerfeld (1822–1900), a daughter of the Prussian captain August von Sommerfeld (1789–1825) and Albertine (Bertha) von Schwichow (1792–1826), a sister of Friedrich Ernst August. The couple had two children, their daughter died early, and his son Ernst (1857–1906) became a Prussian major.
