Friedrich Heinrich Christian Schwarz (born May 20, 1766 in Gießen ; † April 3, 1837 in Heidelberg ) was a German theologian and educator .

Act

After studying theology in Giessen, he first worked as an assistant preacher in Alsfeld and took over the parish in Dexbach in 1790 , where he also set up a private educational establishment. In 1804 he was appointed full professor at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg , where in 1807 he founded the "Philological-Pedagogical Seminar" with Georg Friedrich Creuzer . He turned down later calls to the universities of Greifswald , Bonn and Berlin .

From 1811 to 1812 and from 1820 to 1821 he was Vice Rector of the University; for this he was appointed to the secret council of churches .
