Dexbach is a district of the city of Biedenkopf in the central Hessian district of Marburg-Biedenkopf on the border of the natural areas of the bagpipe and bagpipe foreshore on the eastern slope of the Rothaargebirge .

geography

The place is northwest of Engelbach and south of Eifa and five kilometers north of Biedenkopf. Dexbach can be reached via the state road 3091 - it follows the course of the Engelbach that crosses the village and joins the federal road 253 in a north-westerly direction .

history

Protestant church

The choir of today's Evangelical Church in Dexbach was built around 1260. The place itself was first mentioned in 1332 under the name Deckenspach . Dexbach had its own court in the Biedenkopf office , which exercised the lower jurisdiction .

The statistical-topographical-historical description of the Grand Duchy of Hesse reports on Dexbach in 1830:

"Dexbach (L. Bez. Battenberg) evangel. Parish village; is 2 34 St. from Battenberg in a rough area, has 58 houses and 253 Protestant mostly poor inhabitants. There are 2 grinding mills to which 1 oil mill is connected. Ore was dug here as early as 1654. "

On December 31, 1971, the previously independent community was incorporated into Biedenkopf.

The flag was approved on February 20, 1956 by the Hessian Ministry of the Interior . It shows the town's coat of arms in a wide, green central strip framed by two golden stripes.

Culture and sights

The Dexbach volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help. The place has a fraternity , a beautification association and the club of the Beigefritt, founded in 1987 . In the latter, the foreign citizens who have moved to the village through marriage organize themselves to spend their leisure time together. The folk group Poeta Magica is at home here.
