Friedrich Hermann Gustav Hildebrand

Friedrich Hermann Gustav Hildebrand (born April 6, 1835 in Köslin ; † December 30, 1915 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a German botanist and professor of botany in Freiburg im Breisgau. Its official botanical author's abbreviation is “ Hildebr. "

Life

Hildebrand was a contemporary of Darwin . From 1859 he gave lectures at the University of Bonn . From 1868 to 1907 he was professor of botany at the University of Freiburg . His main areas of work were the ecology of plants, the ecology of flowers and the ecology of dispersal .

In 1881 Hildebrand was appointed a member of the Leopoldina .

Honors

The mushroom genus Hildebrandiella Naumov was named after him .
