Friedrich Hessenberg

Johann Friedrich Hessenberg (born June 1, 1810 in Frankfurt am Main ; † July 8, 1874 there ) was a jeweler, mineralogist and politician of the Free City of Frankfurt .

Friedrich Hessenberg was a silver worker, jeweler, mineralogist and writer in Frankfurt am Main. Based on his experiences as a jeweler, he conducted research in the fields of mineralogy and crystallography . In 1854 he published his first crystallographic work under the title Ueber das Mercuryhornz in the journal of the Senckenberg Natural Research Society . He later published eleven other treatises on minerals in the same journal under the title Mineralogical Notes . He amassed an important mineral collection and also emerged as a designer of crystal models. For his scientific work he was awarded an honorary doctorate from the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität (today Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin ) in Berlin . He was an elected corresponding member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences .

On October 25, 1848, Johann Friedrich Hessenberg was elected to the Constituent Assembly of the Free City of Frankfurt . He was a member of the Legislative Body from 1847 and from 1849 to 1850.
