Friedrich Hofmann (theologian)

Friedrich Hofmann (born June 14, 1902 in Aldersbach , † January 9, 1977 in Würzburg ) was a German theologian .

Life

From 1921 to 1926 he studied philosophy in Passau . After his ordination on June 29, 1926 in Passau, he was chaplain in Frauenau and Aicha in 1926 . After graduation in 1931 Dr. theol. In Tübingen he represented the chair for dogmatics in Passau from 1933 to 1938 . After receiving his habilitation in dogmatics from the theological faculty of the LMU Munich in 1936, he became a NSV member in 1936 . In 1937 he attended the Nazi lecturers' academy in Tännich in Thuringia. From 1937 to 1938 he taught as an adjunct professor for dogmatics at the LMU Munich. From 1938 to 1945 he was an adjunct professor at the PTH Passau (the university was closed from 1939 to 1945). In 1940 he became pastor in Prachatitz (until he was expelled in 1945). From 1945 to 1948 he was pastor in Obernzell . In 1945 he became associate professor and in 1948 full professor for dogmatics in Passau. In 1949 he became a full professor for dogmatics in Würzburg (at the same time substituting a chair in Passau). From 1951 he directed the cathedral school in Würzburg . He was a council advisor to Bishop Stangl . In 1963 he received the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st Class. In 1969 he retired .
