Frederick II (Lorraine)
Friedrich II. († October 8 or 9, 1213 ) was Duke of Lorraine from 1206 to 1213. He was the son of Friedrich von Bitsch and Ludmilla of Poland.
Life
Since the Treaty of Ribemont of May 1179, Lorraine was divided between his uncle, Duke Simon II , and his father. When the childless Simon II appointed him his successor and died in 1206, his father did not recognize this regulation and appointed himself duke. With the death of the usurper the following year, Lorraine was reunited.
His marriage to Agnes von Bar from the House of Scarponnois brought him the area of Amance , Longwy and Stenay , but after a dispute with his father-in-law, Theobald I. von Bar, he lost everything and was imprisoned, in 1208 to regain his freedom.
