politics

On June 7, 1902, Friedrich Jost was elected mayor of Bermuthshain and was confirmed in this office in the 1911 and 1919 elections. During his tenure, the first aqueduct was built in the village from 1909 to 1910 and the land consolidation in the Bermuthshain district from 1909 to 1928 . Friedrich Jost therefore remained in office until February 1926, but decided not to run again when the election was repeated.

Friedrich Jost was also a member of the Lauterbach district assembly and was also a member of a commission for the improvement of the Hutweiden in Vogelsberg.

In the state election of November 27, 1921, he was elected to the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse for the Hessian Farmers' Union. Until his death he remained a member of the state parliament for the Lauterbach constituency for three electoral terms. His successor in the state parliament was Friedrich Wilhelm Stein .
