Friedrich Kühn (sculptor)
Friedrich Kühn (born February 26, 1854 in Lauban , † 1937 in Munich ) was a German sculptor and modeller .
Kühn was the son of a master tailor, he studied from October 1873 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Max von Widnmann . From 1875 to 1880 he worked in the studio of the sculptor Fritz von Miller and from 1882 to 1883 in the studio of the sculptor Rudolf Maison . For the year 1883 he is listed as a member of the jury of the Munich artists' cooperative for the field of sculpture at the International Art Exhibition in the Glaspalast . After that he was self-employed and mainly made portrait busts and grave monuments. He had his first international success in 1885 at the exhibition of the Royal Academy of Arts with his Ganymed group.
