Friedrich Karl von Prittwitz
Friedrich Karl von Prittwitz ( Russian Фёдор Карлович Притвиц ; * 25 November July / 6 December 1798 reg. In Riga , Livonia Governorate ; † 26 August July / 7 September 1849 reg. In Saint Petersburg ) was major general of the imperial Russian Army and Director of Military and Civil Engineers.
family
Prittwitz came from the old, widely branched Silesian noble family of the von Prittwitz and was the son of the Imperial Russian Colonel Karl Friedrich von Prittwitz and Auguste Juliane von Schwaan.
He married on November 25th July. / 7 December 1827 greg. in Tallinn ( Estonia (born 16 October), Katharina Baroness von Rosen jul. / October 28, 1802 greg. Gut Weinjerwen, Estonia, † January 8 jul. / 20 January 1875 greg. in St. Petersburg), the daughter of the imperial Russian major and postal director Otto Friedrich Freiherr von Rosen , gentleman at Gut Weinjerwen, and Juliane von Toll .
He was the younger brother of the Imperial Russian Lieutenant General Paul von Prittwitz .
Military background
In 1816 Prittwitz came from the Russian Cadet Corps as an ensign in the Russian Riding Artillery and in 1829 took part in the campaign as a captain of the General Staff under the leadership of Field Marshal Hans Karl von Diebitsch-Sabalkanski , uncle of Carl Baron von Prittwitz (Count Sabalkanski) the Turks part.
In the Russian-Polish campaign 1830/1831 Prittwitz was a special distinction in the Battle of Grochow to Lieutenant Colonel and when taking Warsaw to Colonel promoted.
From 1831 to 1834 he was Colonel Quartermaster of the 1st Army Corps , as well as commander of the military engineers and director of the Conductor School.
Promoted to major general in 1839 , as director of civil engineers - similar to his brother Paul von Prittwitz - he is said to have earned the particular satisfaction of the Russian government through numerous austerity measures.
