Friedrich Klinckow von Friedenschildt

Friedrich Klinckow von Friedenschildt , also Friedensschildt or Klinkow von Friedenschild , (* 1631 in Stralsund as Friedrich Klinckow ; † June 14, 1685 in Wismar ) was a German lawyer and diplomat in the Swedish service.

Life

Friedrich Klinckow came from the Stralsund council family Klinckow . He was a son of the future councilor Brand Klinckow (1599-1658) and his second wife Ilsabe († 1669), a daughter of the mayor Heinrich Hagemeister († 1616). In 1641 he began studying at the University of Greifswald and continued at the University of Königsberg in 1649 . In 1656, as court master , he accompanied young noblemen to the University of Tübingen . From 1658 he worked first as a chancellery with the Swedish Councilor Matthias Björnklou and then with Harald Appelboom, the Swedish resident in The Hague . At the Treaty of Oliva he was secretary to the Chancellor Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie .

In 1663 he was appointed assessor at the Upper Tribunal Wismar on the recommendation of the Reichsrat . Although he has not previously worked as a judge, he successfully passed the entrance examination. The following year he married the daughter of Vice President David Mevius . Until the end of his life he was sent on numerous diplomatic missions on behalf of the Swedish crown. From 1671 he regularly took over the representation of the vice president. He was also the director of the Wismar Consistory.

On August 19, 1682 Friedrich Klinckow was raised to the Swedish nobility with the name Klinckow von Friedenschildt .

family

Friedrich Klinckow had been married to Barbara Mevius since November 1664, the daughter of the Vice President of the Tribunal David Mevius and Judit Tancke. The couple had five daughters and three sons. With the sons who were in Saxon, Dutch and Swedish military service in 1699, the Klinckow von Friedenschild family ended in the male line.
