Friedrich Kriehuber
Friedrich "Fritz" Kriehuber (also: Bedřich Kriehuber ; born June 7, 1834 in Vienna ; † October 12, 1871 ibid) was an Austrian draftsman , lithographer and wood engraver (xylograph).
Life
Fritz was the son of the lithographer and painter Josef Kriehuber . From 1848 he attended the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts . At first he distinguished himself as a landscape painter, but soon shifted his focus to portraits and - as his father's colleague - to lithography . Many of his portraits were reproduced in illustrated newspapers.
Works
Kriehuber's works appeared, for example, as illustrations in the magazine Über Land und Meer, published by Eduard Hallberger , and in the illustrated book Das Jahr 1848 Geschichte der Wiener Revolution , published by Moritz Smets in 1876 (together with Vinzenz Katzler et al.).
