Friedrich Müssemeier

Friedrich Müssemeier (born March 1, 1876 in Müssen ; † April 13, 1957 in Wilhelmshorst ) was a German veterinarian .

Life

After graduating from high school Leopoldinum in Detmold , Müssemeier studied veterinary medicine from 1893 to 1897 until he received his license to practice medicine and obtained a doctorate from the University of Veterinary Medicine in Hanover . From 1897 to 1900 he worked as a practical veterinarian in Braunschweig and Halle / Saale. 1901–1902 he served as a one-year volunteer with the Train Battalion No. 19. In 1902 he passed the district veterinary exam in Berlin and was senior assistant at the veterinary clinic of the University of Leipzig from 1902–1903 as well as 1905–1910 district veterinarian in Hoya and 1910–1914 in Hanover (Head of the bacteriological laboratory). In 1914 he worked as a government and veterinary councilor and consultant for veterinary affairs in the Potsdam region. In 1920 he became a ministerial official with appointment to the lecturing council in the Prussian Ministry of Agriculture, Domains and Forests , in 1921 also deputy, from 1924 chairman of the Prussian State Veterinary Office. In 1924 he worked as a ministerial director and head of the veterinary department in the Prussian ministry. From 1930 he was honorary professor for veterinary police at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Berlin (from 1934 at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin ). He always lectured there without a Hitler salute. On April 1, 1935, he was released from the Prussian veterinary administration because he was replaced by "Reichstierärzteführer" Friedrich Weber , but from June 1, 1935 the technically superior Müssemeier became director of the veterinary department in the Reich Health Office and permanent representative at the International Office of Animal Diseases . In 1941 he headed the new subdivision in the Reich Ministry of the Interior for the prevention and control of animal diseases .

In 1946 he was appointed professor with a teaching position and in 1947 full professor for animal disease control and state veterinary affairs and holder of the chair of veterinary police at the University of Berlin . He taught state veterinary science until 1957.
