Friedrich-Martin Balzer (born November 24, 1940 in Iserlohn ) is a German teacher , non-fiction author and editor .

biography

Friedrich-Martin Balzer was born in 1940 to a Protestant pastor. After graduating from the Märkisches Gymnasium in Iserlohn in 1960 , he began to study German , English and politics and finished with the second state examination in Marburg in 1969 . There he worked as a teacher from 1968 to 1997.

In 1966 he began the preparatory work for his political science doctorate: “Class Contrasts in the Church. Erwin Eckert and the Association of Religious Socialists ”. The study was published as a book in 1973.

As a student he worked in Clausthaler Wingolf, the Humanist Student Union (HSU), the Socialist German Student Union (SDS) and in the Marburg “Working Group Socialist Opposition”. He campaigned against the emergency legislation , against the so-called "professional bans" and the missile stationing. He was a founding member and spokesman of the Marburg Forum Peace Initiative from 1981 to 1994 and a member of the Krefeld Circle as part of the “ Krefeld Initiative ”. Today he works on the board of the Marburg Forum.

Balzer published on various left intellectuals of the 20th century z. B. Wolfgang Abendroth , Heinz Düx , Erwin Eckert , Emil Fuchs , Klaus Fuchs , Kurt Goldstein , Hans Heinz Holz , Heinz Kappes , Karl Kleinschmidt , Hanfried Müller , Helmut Ridder , Wolfgang Ruge and Gert Wendelborn .
