Friedrich Mauritz von Plettenberg

Friedrich Mauritz von Plettenberg (born April 19, 1648 at Hovestadt Castle ; † December 20, 1714 in Hildesheim ) was a German subdeacon and canon in Hildesheim and Münster .

Life

Friedrich Mauritz von Plettenberg grew up as the son of Bernhard von Plettenberg zu Lenhausen (1615–1679) and his wife Odilia von Fürstenberg zu Schnellenberg and Waterlappe (1617–1683) in one of the oldest and most important Westphalian noble families . His siblings were:

  • Friedrich Christian (1644–1706, Prince-Bishop of Münster),
  • Maria Ida, canon of Fröndenberg, ⚭ Johann Friedrich von Beverförde,
  • Christian Dietrich (1647–1694, cathedral scholaster in Hildesheim),
  • Ferdinand (1650–1712, provost in Münster),
  • Wilhelm († 1711, Canon in Speyer and Landkomtur of the Teutonic Order),
  • Ursula Helena (1654–1720, ⚭ 1671 Franz Wilhelm von Galen zu Assen (1647–1718)) and
  • Johann Adolph (1655–1696, Chamberlain and Privy Councilor)
  • Bernhard (1657–1708, cathedral cantor in Paderborn).

After studying at the Collegium Germanicum in Rome from 1664 to 1671, Plettenberg continued his studies on August 16, 1672 at the Philipps University of Marburg . In 1665 he received a cathedral priest in Hildesheim . The Turnar awarded him in 1699 a stipend in Münster , to which he on 30 May 1713 for health reasons in favor of Friedrich Christian von Plettenberg to Marhülsen waived .

Plettenberg was buried in Hildesheim Cathedral .
