Bernhard von Plettenberg (* 1657 ; † November 22, 1708 in Paderborn ) was canon in Münster and cathedral cantor in Paderborn .

Life

Origin and family

Bernhard grew up as the son of Bernhard von Plettenberg zu Lenhausen (1615–1679) and his wife Odilia von Fürstenberg zu Schnellenberg and Waterlappe (1617–1683) in one of the oldest and most important Westphalian noble families . His siblings were:

Career and work

By papal approval, Bernhard received a Dompräbende in Paderborn in 1673 . Eleven years later, his uncle, the turnar Johann Adolf von Fürstenberg, gave him a prebend in Münster , which he renounced in 1708 in favor of his nephew Friedrich Bernhard Wilhelm . In 1675 Bernhard began studying at the Philipps University of Marburg and enrolled on March 15, 1677 at the University of Cologne with the subject law . Later he held the office of cathedral choirmaster in Paderborn. On February 17, 1703 he received the obedience of St. Blasii or Sommersell.
