Friedrich Morton
Friedrich Morton (born November 1, 1890 in Gorizia , † July 10, 1969 in Hallstatt ) was an Austrian cave explorer and travel writer. His botanical author abbreviation is " F.Morton ".
Morton headed the Hallstatt Museum from 1925 . Between 1937 and 1940 he excavated an important burial ground from the Hallstatt period . He made a major contribution to the exploration of the caves in the Dachstein Mountains near Obertraun .
After the Second World War he traveled to the South American Andes and described, among other things, various plants that are native there.
