Friedrich Muzel

Friedrich Muzell (* 1684 in Ruckeroht ; † January 11, 1753 in Berlin ) was a German high school teacher and author .

Life

Friedrich Muzell was a son of the pastor Johann Jacob Muzell (1660–1728) and his wife Anna Gertrauda von Hachenberg (1659–1733). After private lessons with his father, he went to the Hadamar Jesuit school and then to Herborn and Marburg . At the University of Frankfurt (Oder) Muzell obtained a master's degree in philosophy. From 1709 to 1711 he was rector of the rural school in Diez and from 1712 to 1718 rector of the reformed school in Küstrin , which was opened under his direction. In 1718 Muzell was appointed professor and vice-principal at the Joachimsthal Gymnasium in Berlincalled. He wrote a variety of textbooks, mostly aimed at improving the teaching of Latin.

Friedrich Muzell was married to Louise Hedwig von Stosch (1692–1748), a sister of Philipp von Stosch . The friend of Johann Joachim Winckelmann , Heinrich Wilhelm Muzel , and the physician Friedrich Ludwig Hermann Muzel were sons of this couple.
