Friedrich Peine
Friedrich Peine (born November 8, 1871 in Lichtenberg near Berlin, † September 13, 1952 in Bremen ) was a German politician (SPD).
biography
After attending primary school , Peine was trained as a blacksmith. As a young man he joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). He also became a member of the union. From 1894 he worked in overseas service. After his return in 1899 he married. In the following four years Peine earned his living as a shipyard worker on the Unterweser. He then acted as managing director and secretary of the German Metalworkers' Association in Bremerhaven . He also sat for two years, from 1904 to 1906, in the city council of Bremerhaven. From 1912 he earned his living as a cooperative secretary in Berlin. During the First World War , Peine was used in Russia from 1915 to 1917.
In 1919 Peine became a member of the Bremen National Assembly . In the Reichstag election of June 1920 , Peine was elected to the first Reichstag of the Weimar Republic as a candidate of the SPD for constituency 17 (East Hanover) . After his mandate was confirmed in the following seven Reichstag elections, Peine belonged to the German parliament for almost thirteen years, until his mandate was withdrawn by the National Socialist government in June 1933. In March 1933, Peine was one of 94 members of the Reichstag who voted against the adoption of the Enabling Act , which formed the legal basis for the establishment of the Nazi dictatorship, and which was finally adopted with a majority of 444 to 94 votes. In addition to his work in parliament, Peine held the post of advisor in the Ministry of Food and Agriculture for a time in the 1920s.
After his exclusion from politics, Peine lived withdrawn in a gazebo at Spinolastrasse 34 in Berlin-Karow . From November 1943 until the end of the war he also took in the bombed-out SPD politician Friedrich Ebert junior .
