Friedrich Romberg (born March 5, 1846 in Duisburg , † July 29, 1919 in Bad Bertrich ) was a German engineer and, among other things, head of the building trade school in Cologne .

Life

Friedrich Romberg studied mechanical engineering at the industrial academy in Berlin from 1865 to 1868 after a theoretical and practical training . After graduating, he tried to work as an engineer, but failed due to a long-term illness. From 1870 to 1875 he was able to work as a teacher at the municipal building school in Idstein . Then he was at the Kgl until 1880 . Provincial trade school in Cologne responsible for the subjects mathematics , descriptive geometry , machine science , statics and strength theory . In 1880 he was appointed director of this institution. And then until 1908 he was head of all technical colleges in Cologne, including the State Building Trade School in Cologne (one of the predecessor institutions of today's Cologne University of Applied Sciences ).

Because of his merits, he was appointed school councilor in 1904 and secret government councilor in 1907 . In 1906 he passed on his obligation to his successor, Prof. Konstantin Wille, but continued to manage the mechanical engineering school and the business development agency until 1914. After the First World War , he took over the management of the war wounded welfare department until his death.

In 1960 a street (Rombergstrasse) was named after him in Cologne-Lindenthal .
