Friedrich Schilcher (born September 1, 1811 in Vienna , † May 6, 1881 in Unterdöbling near Vienna) was an Austrian portrait , genre , decoration and history painter .

Life

Schilcher studied at the Vienna Academy and made several study trips to Hungary and Transylvania. Between 1877 and 1878 he was director of the Vienna Künstlerhaus . He worked mainly in Vienna.

He was buried in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 15E).

In 1975 the Schilchergasse in Vienna- Penzing (14th district) was named after him.
