Friedrich Stratmann

Friedrich Eduard Wilhelm Stratmann , also Eduard Friedrich Stratmann (born April 20, 1875 in Schwarmstedt , † September 16, 1952 in Schwerin ) was a German state politician in Mecklenburg .

Life

Friedrich Stratmann attended the Friedrich-Franz-Gymnasium (Parchim) and studied law and economics in Heidelberg , Berlin and Rostock . After study trips abroad, he received his doctorate in 1901 . In 1904 he was employed by the Mecklenburg customs directorate. In 1906 he was trained in Dresden in Saxony and in Cologne in 1907 in Prussian administration and economics. In 1908 he became a councilor and lecturer in the Schwerin Ministry of Finance.

From November 11 to 14, 1918, as a member of the National Liberal Party, he was Minister of Justice in the state government led by Hugo Wendorff . In the following year he resigned from the Mecklenburg government service and was director of the Mecklenburg mortgage and exchange bank in Schwerin until 1943.

In the post-war period in Germany he belonged to the state administration of Mecklenburg under the British occupation, which he also headed from mid-May to June 18, 1945. In 1945 he joined the LDPD . In the following year he became a member of the Mecklenburg-West Pomerania state parliament and deputy chairman of the LDPD parliamentary group. At the same time he was a member of the Schwerin city council. After Paul Friedrich Scheffler's arrest in November 1947, he took over the parliamentary group chairmanship.

From 1946 to 1952 he was president of the IV. Ordinary Synod of the Church of Mecklenburg .
