Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Mende

Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Mende (born November 6, 1805 in Naumburg (Saale) , † February 18, 1886 in Görlitz ) was a German pastor and educator .

Life

Born as the son of a craftsman, Mende attended the Naumburg cathedral high school and studied philology and then theology in Halle. During his studies in 1828 he became a member of the old Halle fraternity Germania .

After completing his studies, he worked as a private tutor in Roßleben until 1830 and on a manor in Dobrich until mid-1831 . In 1831 he became rector of the Protestant city school in Freystadt. In 1834 he was ordained pastor in Priebus . In 1834 he was interrogated for his fraternity activities, but the investigation against him was dropped. In 1838 he became pastor in Seidenberg . In 1844 he was a member of the Provincial Synod. He received permission to found a private school and educational institution for boys in 1846. From 1873 to 1883 he was the district school inspector of LaubanII active. In 1884 he was retired from health. In addition to some publications, he was the editor of the monthly Der pedagogische Hausfreund .
