Friedrich Wilhelm von Kanitz (born October 10, 1656 , † January 22, 1719 ) was a Prussian Real Privy Councilor and Oberburggraf.

origin

Friedrich Wilhelm came from the Prussian branch of the noble family of Kanitz . He was the only son of the Brandenburg colonel and commander of a dragoon regiment in the Second Northern War , Elias von Kanitz (* 1622, † 1674), who had acquired Podangen near Wormditt in 1663 , and Anna Margarethe, née Finck von Finckenstein .

Life

In 1683 he was electoral Brandenburg chamberlain and acquired the right to the Hauptmannschaft Lötzen by contract from his father-in-law . In 1694 he was captain in Tapiau and acquired the Maulfritzen estate from the widow Maria Veronica von Hohendorf , née Polenz , with the permission of the elector . In the following year an aunt, married Strackwaldt, gave him the will of Gut Rosenau near Allenstein , which the elector confirmed in 1697. In 1698, however, he had to compare himself to Gustav Adolf von Strackwaldt because of Rosenau.

As early as 1701 he built the manor house in Podangen , which, along with Lomp and Gemitten, belonged to him from his father's inheritance. He also took over the pledge of Alken and Necteinen from his father . In addition to Maulfritzen and Rosenau, he was also able to acquire the Tharau estate.

At the beginning of the 18th century, von Kanitz held the office of District Director and Captain of Brandenburg , but was then appointed Real Privy Councilor and High Marshal in 1706, and in 1711 as Oberburggrave in Prussia. The two last-named offices were government functions from the time of the former Duchy of Prussia and located in Königsberg .

family

In 1683 he married Sophia Barbara von Tettau (* 1664; † 1707) for the first time. This marriage came from four daughters as the third of four sons Hans Wilhelm von Kanitz (* 1692, † 1775), Prussian lieutenant general and owner of the infantry regiment "von Kanitz" (No. 2) . On November 16, 1708 he went with Christine Auguste von Reventlow (* 1680; † 1741), again in the state of marriage. She was the daughter of Henning von Reventlow (* 1640; † 1705) and Margarethe von Rumohr . (* 1638; † 1705). In addition to a daughter, this second marriage resulted in two sons, Henning Friedrich. (* 1712; † 1791), who inherited Mednicken in 1778 , and Alexander Conrad Ludwig (* 1714; † 1788), through whose descendants the Podang line continued.
