Friedrich Wilhelm von Rex

Friedrich Wilhelm von Rex (born November 29, 1705 in Pobles , † April 14, 1763 in Dresden ) was a royal Polish and electoral Saxon lieutenant general and chief of the carbine guard .

Life

Friedrich Wilhelm the fourth and youngest son of Carl Rex auf Pobles (1660-1716) from the Meissen nobility family of Lords von Rex , electoral tax collector and vice-chief court judge of Leipzig as well as chief steward of Christiane Eberhardine , wife of August the Strong and Electress of Saxony. His mother was Carl von Rex ′ second wife Christiana Elisabeth, born von Neitschütz (1680–1739). His older brother was Carl August Rex , raised to the rank of count in 1741 , who had become the owner of a manor through marriage .

In the Electoral Saxon army he was promoted to major general in 1746 and lieutenant general in 1753. As such, he took part in the Seven Years' War . Friedrich Wilhelm von Rex was directly involved in the siege at Pirna , which ended with the dissolution of the Electoral Saxon army and gave the starting signal for the Seven Years' War . There he was taken prisoner of war in Prussia, from which he was only released with the obligation to no longer actively participate in the war. He kept to this obligation and retired to Zeitz . It was not reactivated until the Treaty of Hubertusburg was concluded in February 1763 . Friedrich Wilhelm von Rex took part in the reconstruction of the Electoral Saxon army, but died a little later in April 1763 in Dresden.

Rex married on February 6, 1741 in Dresden Dorothea Sophia von Friesen (* May 11, 1823 - June 17, 1762), the youngest daughter of Lieutenant General Christian August von Friesen on Rötha . The couple left the two sons:
