Friedrich von Dewitz (politician, 1843)

Friedrich Wilhelm Otto Ulrich Karl Helmut Julius von Dewitz (born November 25, 1843 in Cölpin ; † March 31, 1928 there ) was a Mecklenburg landowner, lawyer and, as minister of state from 1885 to 1907, head of government of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .

Life

Friedrich von Dewitz (no. 579 of the gender census ) was a son of the homonymous landowner and member of parliament Friedrich von Dewitz and his wife Thekla, b. von Maltzahn (1819–1902). Otto (Balthasar) von Dewitz (1853-1919) was his brother.

Friedrich attended high schools in Lüneburg and Dresden and studied law at the universities of Heidelberg and Berlin from 1863 and Rostock from April 1866. In 1864 he became a member of the Corps Saxo-Borussia Heidelberg . In 1873 he joined the Mecklenburg-Strelitz state service as an assessor at the Justice Office and the Landvogtei Schönberg . In 1875 he became an employee in the state government of Neustrelitz, where he rose from government assessor to government councilor and secret councilor. From 1885 to 1907 he was Minister of State at the head of the grand ducal government of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. From 1886 he was also Chancellor of the Grand Ducal Order and Decoration of Honor of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

From 1882 he was a member of the Association for Mecklenburg History and Archeology .
