Friedrich von Hausen († March 18 or March 28, 1274 ) was Bishop of Kulm .

Friedrich von Hausen was of noble descent and probably came from the area around Würzburg , where his family owned goods. As a priest of the Teutonic Order , he probably came to Prussia in 1262 with Grand Master Anno von Sangerhausen and is occupied with this in 1263 at an arbitration tribunal in Elbing .

Due to the influence of the order, Friedrich von Hausen could be elected Bishop of Kulm in 1263, as which he is first recorded on January 27, 1264. The Archbishop of Riga as metropolitan , however, refused to confirm his election and to be ordained bishop, whereupon the latter turned to the Grand Master for help . He appealed to Pope Urban IV , who commissioned the Bishop of Würzburg, Iring von Reinstein-Homburg , with the confirmation of the election and episcopal ordination.

Even before his episcopal ordination, Frederick incorporated the cathedral chapter of the diocese into the Teutonic Order, thereby ensuring that his order could influence future bishops' elections. At the same time he refurbished the chapter, increased its membership to 24 and instead of the Augustine Rule gave it the rule of the Teutonic Order.

As bishop, we meet Friedrich in 1265 in an indulgence for the Dominicans in Thorn, where he also stayed in 1266 for a grant of privileges to the hospital from the Grand Master. Possibly it was also Friedrich who settled the Cistercian women in his episcopal city in 1266, for whom he applied to the city council to purchase a property. In 1272 he was commissioned by Pope Gregory X. to protect the Augustinians in Schwornigatz .

When the Prussians rebelled in 1272, Friedrich left his diocese and returned to the empire. Here he performed episcopal acts on behalf of the Bishop of Würzburg in 1272. After a visit to Marburg we find him in Frankfurt in 1273. It is not known where Friedrich died and was buried.
