Friedrich von Lorentz
Friedrich von Lorentz (born October 1, 1902 in Trier , † June 22, 1968 in Berlin ) was a German classical archaeologist and art historian .
From the winter semester 1921/1922 to the winter semester 1923/1924 he first studied architecture at the Technical University of Berlin-Charlottenburg . He then studied Classical Archeology at the universities of Berlin , Munich and Leipzig , where he received his doctorate in 1930. From 1932 to 1940 he was an assistant at the Archaeological Institute of the University of Cologne , where he received his habilitation in 1938. From 1939 he did military service in World War II . After his release from British captivity in 1946, he became a university lecturer at the University of Greifswald in 1947 , and from 1948 he taught art history at the Technical University of Berlin as an adjunct professor . In 1966 he was appointed full professor and retired in 1967.
Friedrich von Lorentz was married to the cultural historian Irma Anger (1904-2001) from 1932 to 1953 .
He is buried in the Evangelical Churchyard Nikolassee in Berlin.
