Friedrich von Müller (General, 1822)

Friedrich von Müller (born March 26, 1822 in Prague , Bohemia , † April 19, 1892 in Meran , Tyrol ) was an officer in the Austro-Hungarian Army , most recently with the rank of field marshal lieutenant .

Life

Friedrich Müller joined Artillery Regiment 1 as a sub-gunner in 1839. After he had been transferred to other regiments several times, he was promoted to first lieutenant in 1854 and was employed in the artillery staff. From 1856 to 1859 he taught as a professor at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt . In 1859 he was promoted to captain , in the same year he took part in the campaign in Italy as battery commander. In 1862 he moved to the artillery committee, the following year to the artillery staff and from then on worked in the 7th department of the Reich Ministry of War , of which he became chairman in 1869. In 1874 he was raised to the nobility and promoted to colonel . In 1879 he was promoted to major general. From 1883 he was section chief in the War Ministry and was promoted to field marshal lieutenant in 1884. He was especially responsible for arming the army. In 1885 he was promoted to arsenal director and was allowed to retire in 1887.
