Fritz Bergau

Fritz Bergau (born July 29, 1894 in Berlin ; † December 10, 1941 in Gollnow prison ) was a German communist and resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Bergau, a book printer by profession , was already organized in the KPD before 1933 . After the " seizure of power " by the National Socialists , he worked for the illegal KPD sub-district Berlin-Südost (district II). Together with Friedrich Kuntzsch , he was involved in setting up an illegal operating group in the Albert Frisch book printing and publishing company. The group was active until May 1936. Among other things, Bergau distributed illegal literature and collected money for political prisoners. From 1935 he formed the district management together with Martha Paucke and Karl Wegener .

On November 24, 1937 Bergau was arrested for illegal political activity and in 1938 sentenced to four years in prison by the “ People's Court ” . Bergau died in Gollnow prison as a result of the conditions in prison.
