Fritz Brechbühl
Fritz Brechbühl (born April 9, 1897 in Basel ; † July 1, 1963 there ) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).
Life
 
  Brechbühl completed an apprenticeship as a watchmaker in Hölstein . In 1918 he got involved as a strike leader in Waldenburgertal . From 1921 to 1935 he was VPOD secretary in Basel.
In Basel-city Grand Council sat Brechbühl 1923 to 1935 and worked as a civil judge worked from 1925 to 1935. From 1933 to 1935 he was also a member of the bank council of Basler Kantonalbank and chairman of the press union. Brechbühl was a member of the government of the Canton of Basel-Stadt from 1935 to 1963 and a member of the National Council from 1951 to 1963 . From 1950 to 1960 he chaired the SP Basel-Stadt.
As a Grand Councilor, Brechbühl was committed to the Civil Service Act of 1929. In the government of the Red Basel , elected in 1935 , he was the police director responsible for reforming the police force and for the relatively liberal Basel refugee policy in World War II .
