Fritz Brock

Fritz Brock (born July 22, 1931 in Leipzig , † December 6, 2014 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( SED ). For almost two and a half decades he was head of the trade unions and social policy department of the SED Central Committee.

Life

Brock, son of a turner , visited the elementary and middle school and graduated from 1946 to 1948 an apprenticeship as a shaper . He joined the FDJ and the FDGB in 1946 . In 1947 he became a member of the SED. In 1948/49 he worked as a moulder in the Leipzig iron and steel works. In 1949/50 he was secretary of the FDGB basic organization of the VEB Leipziger Eisen- und Stahlwerke. In 1950/51 he was an assistant at VEB Leipziger Eisen- und Stahlwerke. In 1951 he attended a course at the Gotha Business School and then acted from 1951 to 1953 as a branch manager of the VEB Leipziger Eisen- und Stahlwerke.

From 1953 he was an employee of the Central Committee of the SED : From 1953 to 1955 he worked as an instructor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy of the Central Committee of the SED, from 1955 to 1958 as a sector manager and from 1958 to 1964 as head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy of the Central Committee of the SED. In 1964/65 he was head of the department for ideological work and working group leader for political mass work at the Bureau for Industry and Construction at the Politburo of the Central Committee of the SED. From 1965 to 1989 he was finally head of the trade unions and social policy department of the SED Central Committee (successor to Josef Steidl ).

From 1968 to 1977 he was a member of the FDGB federal executive committee. From 1976 to 1989 he was also a member of the Central Revision Commission of the SED. From December 1989 to February 1990 he was an employee of the Economic, Agricultural and Social Policy Commission of the SED / PDS party executive. In February 1990 he ended his full-time job for the SED / PDS and worked as a parcel distributor at the main post office 8 in Berlin .

Brock died at the age of 83.
