Fritz Brustat-Naval

Fritz Brustat-Naval (born November 25, 1907 in Eydtkuhnen , East Prussia as Friedrich Brustat, † June 13, 1989 in Kiel ) was a German captain , journalist , filmmaker and author . He also wrote under the pseudonyms Frederik Naval and Jack Tar .

Life

Fritz Brustat-Naval wrote books on contemporary history, travel and shipping, as well as numerous scripts for maritime documentaries and radio plays . He was still a sailor on square sailors “in front of the mast ” around Cape Horn and as a captain got to know all the oceans on a long voyage .

During the Second World War he was a captain on supply ships and a teacher at the navigation school in Gotenhafen . In the German Navy he was a lieutenant captain in the reserve.

He studied political science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel , traveled to Mao Tse-tung's China and was a commentator for Federal President Gustav Heinemann at the windjammer parade for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Kiel .

Fritz Brustat-Naval belonged to the friendship association of the last Cape Horn drivers, the Association Amicale Internationale des Capitaines au Long-Cours Cap Horniers and lived in Kiel.
