Fritz Felzmann

Fritz Felzmann (born June 16, 1895 in Boskowitz ; † May 10, 1980 in Korneuburg ) was an Austrian doctor , writer and musicologist .

Life

As a child, Felzmann moved with his family to Mährisch Trübau and attended elementary school and grammar school there. From 1914 he studied musicology and law at the University of Vienna and received lessons in harmony and counterpoint from Hermann Graedener . In 1915 he switched to medicine and was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. During the First World War he had to interrupt his studies, was drafted into the military and fought in Russia and Italy .

He began his career as a doctor in a hospital and was then a specialist in Auspitz from 1924 to 1945 . At the same time, he made a name for himself as a writer with short stories and poems. In addition, he published scientific articles on music and literature.

After being expelled from South Moravia in 1945 , he went to Austria , worked for a short time as a community doctor in Wilfersdorf and then settled in Vienna . From 1951 he practiced as a specialist in skin diseases in Stockerau and retired in 1964.

In 1975 he was awarded the Adalbert Stifter Medal for his services .

family

Felzmann was married to Marianne Zemanek, the daughter of a wine grower from Auspitz. He is the father of the writer Ilse Tielsch .
