Fritz Feyerherm (born April 1935 in Berlin ; † December 30, 2008 there ) was a German rugby union player, referee , sports official and teacher. He was a German national player and for many years chaired the Berliner Rugby Club (BRC).

Live and act

Fritz Feyerherm was born in Berlin in 1935, where he experienced the Second World War as a child . In 1948, at the age of 13, he saw his first rugby game, a guest appearance by the Oxford Greyhounds in Berlin 's Mommsen Stadium . First, since clubs were still banned, he joined an open youth team in the Eichkamp district . After the re-establishment of the Berlin RC, he came to this and developed into an outstanding player. So he was appointed to the German national rugby union team. On October 29, 1961, he played on the position of a flanker under the captain Jürgen Frey of DSV Hannover 78 in Hürth against the Netherlands . The German team won the game 14: 6.

Fritz Feyerherm worked as a teacher for ancient Greek and Latin at the Arndt-Gymnasium Dahlem , where he recruited a large number of new talents for rugby. Feyerherm played in the senior team of the BRC until the age of 48, before he devoted himself entirely to the activity as a functionary. By 1963 at the latest, at the age of 28, he was youth manager of the Berlin Rugby Association , and from 1973 until his death in 2008 he was chairman of the rugby club for 35 years. Among other things, he sat as 2nd chairman on the board of the German Rugby Youth and was youth warden of the German Rugby Association . Under his leadership, youth teams of the Berlin rugby club have won around 40 German championships over the decades. The men's team reached the final of the German championship in 1989 and the DRV Cup in 1983 and 1988.

In addition to his commitment as a player and official, Fritz Feyerherm also worked as a referee in the rugby Bundesliga . In 1967 he headed the final of the German championship between SC Neuenheim and TSV Victoria Linden in Berlin , which Neuenheim won 11: 9.
