In his architectural work, Jarchov, who combined his buildings with a socio-political commitment, dealt not only with utopian designs (Bridge City Heidelberg, Bürgerhaus Heidelberg) but above all with ecological construction and the artistic design of outdoor facilities ( Neckar bank development in the north in Mannheim; settlement Neue Heimat in Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld), which he designed together with the sculptor Hans Nagel on the Heidelberg university campus, for example . He has received several awards for his architectural work.

In addition to oil paintings with graphic elements and graphic works ( etchings , illustrations), his graphic and painterly work also included the design of information systems in hospitals and university buildings (Diakonie Kork in Kehl, Landeskrankenhaus Hirsau, building for theoretical medicine at Heidelberg University Hospital). From 1975 onwards, in addition to his artistic and architectural work, he also devoted himself to street theater and scenic photography.

His artistic work is in the collections of the Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg , in the Kunsthalle Kiel , in the Theater Museum in Schloss Wahn (Cologne) and in the Kunsthalle Mannheim .
